The Most Expensive Chains in History

Chains are all about making a name for yourself, whether that’s on your street or across the world. At the top of the chain game, some of music’s biggest names have created incredible chains dripping in gold and diamonds, with incredible price tags to match!

In this blog, we take a look at some of the most expensive chains in history. From classic gold cage chains to extravagant diamond pendants, this list has it all!

Note that this is not a complete or extensive list - many people have chains whose values are kept secret. This list is some of our favourite chains with incredible style and value.

Gold Cuban Chain: Jay-Z - $200K

Sometimes it’s all about the classics. That’s certainly what Jay-Z showed when he wore a giant Cuban chain made of solid gold!

Supposedly weighing 11lbs, it’s one of the most expensive pieces of jewellery that doesn’t include any gemstones. Sometimes, a classic can make the biggest statement.

Marilyn Manson: Lil Uzi Vert - $220K

One of the most eccentric rappers in the game, Lil Uzi Vert paid homage to one of his artistic inspirations in a very dramatic, and expensive, way!

This spiked choker is covered in white gold and diamonds, but the centrepiece is a 55-carat diamond Marilyn Manson pendant complete with Mickey Mouse hat. It’s certainly one of the weirder chains on this list!

Ratatouille: Quavo - $250K

Perhaps the most ‘love it or hate it’ chain on this list. In 2017, Quavo wore a white gold and diamond chain of himself as Alfredo Linguini, the main character from Disney’s Ratatouille.

Why, you ask? The chain references lyrics from his song ‘Bad and Boujee’: “call me Quavo Ratatouille”.

Complete with chef’s hat, mini QC pendant and Ratatouille in his hand, it is an incredibly detailed piece that oozes style. The question is: would you wear this chain?!

Horus: Kanye West - $300K

Never understated, it’s unsurprising that Kanye has made his mark in the world of chains. For his performance at the 2010 BET awards, Kanye wore a giant gold chain and pendant of the Egyptian god Horus.

Made of 24k yellow gold, it is one of the loudest chains on this list - quite impressive considering the lack of gemstones compared to the rest.

Big Ass Chain: T-Pain - $400K

When it comes to making waves with chains, size counts. That’s certainly what T-Pain must have been thinking when he spent $400K on, literally, a Big Ass Chain!

The chain is made of yellow and white gold and features a giant, diamond-encrusted pendant with those three words. And when we say giant, we’re talking about covering-your-upper-body giant!

In an interview, the rapper said they bought the chain as a dare and he thought it was a stupid decision. We wouldn’t argue, but it’s certainly a memorable chain!

Twin Panther: Gucci Mane - $500K

One of the smallest chains in this list is also one of the most expensive! Purchased in 2017, Gucci Mane’s Twin Panther might not look too special compared to some of the giants on this list, but it’s one of the biggest ever when it comes to its diamond count.

The gold chain features two panthers, whose mouths are connected by three thin chains. You wouldn’t know it was gold, though, as it’s been covered with an incredible 4,600 diamonds!

Crunk Ain't Dead: Lil’ John - $500K

Arguably one of the most famous chains in history, Lil’ John’s statement piece was a record-breaker in 2007, when Guinness named it the biggest diamond pendant in the world!

While it’s since been overtaken, this pendant is still hugely impressive. Made from yellow and white gold, it contains over 3,700 diamonds. While crunk’s time in the limelight may have passed, it’s certainly made a mark in the chain game.

Rick Ross: Rick Ross - $1.5M

And now for the most expensive chain in history. A man known for his luxury lifestyle, Rick Ross raised the bar when it comes to big money chains when he had made a shining pendant of his own face!

The large pendant is a pretty accurate representation of the man himself. Completely iced out, the chain has an incredible price tag that’s been unmatched since 2008.

A few years later, Rick Ross took his chain game even further by creating a chain of himself wearing a chain of himself! While it wasn’t as expensive, it’s definitely something to check out.

These are just some of the most expensive chains in the game, and we can’t wait to see what new looks the big names will come up with.
