What is gold filled?
Gold filled is an actual layer of gold-pressure bonded to another metal. It is not to be confused with gold plating as it is much better and long lasting than gold plating. It is much more valuable and tarnish resistant. But please be aware it is not "solid gold", our recommended retail price is an estimate by us, and this can vary between jewellers. Gold Filled/Gold Layered Jewellery (the highest Safety Standard & environmental protection standard) is not easy to tarnish. You can use this jewellery for a long time.
Is this piece made of solid gold?
No. The item gold filled, used to describe a specific form of gold plating, does not, as the term implies, mean that the item is filled with gold. It refers to jewellery made of base metal (commonly brass or copper) covered by sheets of gold bonded to the base by a mechanical process. It is much more valuable and tarnish resistant than spray plated. It does not flake off, rub off or turn colours. It is extremely long lasting and if taken care of will last you a lifetime. It is an economical alternative to solid gold jewellery. Please be aware that only 24k is pure solid gold, all other solid gold and gold filled items contain metal (commonly brass or copper). A small percent of people are allergic to jewellery and therefore if the wearer is allergic to gold or other metal, we advice not to purchase.
